Do you remember your first time at camp? The butterflies on your first day, and the confidence you felt when you faced your fears, learned new skills, and overcame challenges? Thousands of children across the city are about to embark on their first day, that first challenge... those memorable, lifechanging experiences that one only makes at camp.

For the first time since the pandemic, YMCA Calgary will host the Annual Indigenous Youth Hoops Tournament for its 16th season on Neighbour Day, Saturday, June 17, 2023. 

Every year, over 9,000 children and youth attend YMCA Calgary’s day and overnight camps. And every year, 1 in 10 of those campers are there because of financial assistance. To ensure no child is turned away from experiencing summer camp, YMCA Calgary is fundraising $100,000 through the month of June to send 500 kids to camp.

At the YMCA, we believe in people. We see their potential. We find strength in telling stories of our differences and find inspiration in sharing our diversity – all with the purpose of bringing us closer together.   

Evacuees are welcome to use YMCA Calgary facilities for no charge for the duration of these evacuations.
