Experience daily adventures in the great outdoors 

YMCA Camp Riveredge is an outdoor day camp located at Sandy Beach Park along the Elbow River in Calgary's southwest. Participants are unplugged and stay active exploring the great outdoors, taking part in traditional camp games, crafts and activities.

This camp encourages campers to belong, grow, thrive and lead in the outdoors. Throughout each day, campers may take part in archery, the challenge course, low ropes, bouldering cube, fire building, field games, campfires, shelter building and more. 

On hot days, campers take regular shade breaks, play water games and participate in lower energy activities. Offsite adventures encourage groups to explore local parks and natural spaces. Groups interact with others in a natural disconnected environment to make new friends and develop social skills. 

All camps include some of the same activities but are modified for each developmental stage to keep camp fun, engaging and challenging for everyone.

Summer Camp Descriptions

Join us at YMCA Camp Riveredge for a fun, unplugged, and outdoor summer camp! With a focus on time in nature, games and meeting new friends, a session at Camp Riveredge will foster physical literacy development, outdoor skills, and participation and cooperation with peers. Merlins will participate in camp activities such as archery, group challenge games, and crafts.

Campers must be dropped off and picked up at the Camp Riveredge site near Sandy Beach. There is no bussing or before/after care available. 

*Merlin campers must turn 6 before the start of their camp.

Come to camp with your bike! Campers will spend part of each day learning and practicing the basics of riding a bike. Bike Camp - Gear 1 campers will participate in many other camp activities and games, including archery, crafts and group games. 

Participants must bring their own pedal bike and be able to ride without training wheels. They must also have a CSA-approved bike helmet. 

Campers must be dropped off and picked up at the Camp Riveredge site near Sandy Beach. There is no bussing or before/after care available. 

*Bike Camp - Gear 1 campers must turn 6 before the start of their camp. 

With a focus on time in nature, games and meeting new friends, a session at Camp Riveredge fosters physical literacy development, outdoor skills, and participation and cooperation with peers. Hawks participate in camp activities such as archery, group challenge games, and crafts. 

Campers must be dropped off and picked up at the Camp Riveredge site near Sandy Beach. There is no bussing or before/after care available. 

*Hawk campers must turn 8 before the start of their camp. 

Come to camp with your bike! Campers will spend part of each day learning and practicing biking skills.  Bike Camp - Gear 2 campers will also participate in many other camp activities and games, including archery, crafts, and group games. 

Participants must bring their own pedal bike and be able to ride without training wheels. They must also have a CSA-approved bike helmet. Gear 2 participants should be able to ride their bikes without help, participate in a 30 to 40-minute ride on pavement, and have some knowledge of path and roadway etiquette.
 
Campers must be dropped off and picked up at the Camp Riveredge site near Sandy Beach. There is no bussing or before/after care available. 

*Bike Camp - Gear 2 campers must turn 8 before the start of their camp.

With a focus on time in nature, games and meeting new friends, a session at Camp Riveredge fosters physical literacy development, outdoor skills, and participation and cooperation with peers. Falcons participate in camp activities such as archery, group challenge games and outdoor skills. 
 
Campers must be dropped off and picked up at the Camp Riveredge site near Sandy Beach. There is no bussing or before/after care available. 

*Falcon campers must turn 10 before the start of their camp. 

Come to camp with your bike! Campers will spend part of each day learning and practicing biking skills. Bike Camp - Gear 3 campers will also participate in many other camp activities and games, including archery, crafts and group games. 

Participants must bring their own pedal bike and be able to ride without training wheels. They must also have a CSA-approved bike helmet. Gear 3 participants should be confident in riding for an hour or more on pavement, have some knowledge of path and roadway etiquette, and be ready to try some beginner trail riding. 

Campers must be dropped off and picked up at the Camp Riveredge site near Sandy Beach. There is no bussing or before/after care available. 

Bike Camp - Gear 3 campers must turn 10 before the start of their camp. 

With a focus on time in nature, games and meeting new friends, a session at Camp Riveredge fosters physical literacy development, outdoor skills, and participation and cooperation with peers. Eagles will participate in camp activities such as outdoor skills, archery, games, and art projects. 

Campers must be dropped off and picked up at the Camp Riveredge site near Sandy Beach. There is no bussing or before/after care available. 

Eagle campers must turn 12 before the start of their camp.

The Osprey Leadership Camp combines learning about outdoor leadership and opportunities to mentor younger campers with fun, games and meeting new friends. Osprey Leadership participants will participate and start to learn to facilitate camp activities such as archery, group challenge games, and crafts. 

Campers must be dropped off and picked up at the Camp Riveredge site near Sandy Beach. There is no bussing or before/after care available. 

Osprey Leadership campers must turn 14 before the start of their camp.
